Reclaim Your Time: Setting Boundaries As A Busy Business Owner

Boundaries were never my strong point as a business owner. I tended to absorb other people's stress, work around the clock to prove dedication, and struggled saying no even when overwhelmed. Throw in some imposter syndrome to the mix too…

Predictably, I crashed hard from burnout after years of blurring the lines and not putting myself and my needs first.

Today I'm way more mindful of my energy, schedule, and stress levels - protecting my health and happiness as the priority. Also being aware of those imposter thoughts and not allowing them to take over.

While working hard is pretty much a given as a business owner, utter exhaustion benefits no one. And poor boundaries only enable a dangerous cycle.

Here are a few small but mighty ways I maintain boundaries now to prevent fatigue:

✍🏻 Set designated work hours and stick to them - this isn't the 9-5, but I have clear boundaries around when I am/not available.

✍🏻 Protect time for loved ones, hobbies, self-care. Non-negotiable in my calendar.

✍🏻 Turn off the phone notifications - that constant pinging is enough to send anyone into a spiral of anxiety.

✍🏻 Learn to say no WAY more often.

The only way I can serve my clients at my highest capacity is by showing UP at full energy for myself first. I gently challenge you to reflect on what boundaries need establishing in your world too right now.
